A Bit About Me
Let me introduce myself: I’ve been in the world of cybersecurity and risk management for over 14 years, and what an adventure it has been! One thing you should know about me is that when I set my mind to something, I’m all in. Whether it’s a career move or a personal project, I simply just dive in.
Growing up, I was torn between two passions: culinary arts and technology. I eventually chose technology, thinking it would be easier to transition from tech to food if I wanted, but much harder to go the other way around, which I still believe is true. Even now, that ambition still simmers inside me, and who knows? Maybe one day you’ll find me sharing some delicious recipes or running a cozy little café. But for now, technology—and more specifically cybersecurity—is where I’m making my mark.
What This Platform Is All About: A Space for Authenticity
This platform isn’t about recounting every step of my journey—that’s what LinkedIn and resumes are for. Instead, it’s a space where I want to bring an international perspective and share the experiences I’ve gathered across continents and cultures. I’ve had the privilege of earning multiple master’s degrees, working at a Big Four firm, establishing a global cybersecurity function for the largest university hospital in Pakistan, and now contributing to a healthcare cybersecurity and third-party risk management firm in Atlanta. My career has allowed me to work with people and organizations all over the world like Asia, East Africa, Canada, the UK, and Australia, and I’m bringing all those experiences with me to this platform.
Here, we’re going to explore more than just cybersecurity. Together, we’ll dive into what success means for us, how we can find fulfillment in our work, and how to strike a balance between ambition and personal happiness. I’ll be sharing the lessons I’ve learned—the challenges, the breakthroughs, and everything in between—as I continue to grow both professionally and personally. It’s essential not just to work hard, but to pause, reflect on your mental health, and make sure that you’re working towards a version of success that gives you true happiness.
This is a space where I’ll be vulnerable and authentic. I’ll share my wins and my setbacks, and the importance of understanding that success isn't just about pushing through—it’s about taking the time to make sure you’re on a path that aligns with your values and brings you joy. I’m also excited to bring a diverse voice to the conversation, sharing insights from the various cultures and regions I’ve worked in, including my heritage as a Pakistani woman.
